PolarLake Joins Emergency Interoperability Consortium

Published February 21, 2006 / Press Releases

PolarLake™, a world leader in application and data integration, announced today that it has joined the Emergency Interoperability Consortium (EIC). The EIC is a group of about 40 companies working to create new warning and messaging protocols based on open standards.

"The Emergency Interoperability Consortium is delighted to welcome PolarLake as a new member. As a distinguished global company, with exciting new technology designed to facilitate the exchange of standards-compliant data using the Common Alerting Protocol (CAP), the Distribution Element, and the emerging EDXL family of standards, PolarLake adds an international dimension to the EIC's commitment to open global data standards," said Matt Walton, EIC’s Chairman. "PolarLake’s ground-breaking work with law enforcement in the United Kingdom and the banking industry around the world will also expand the expertise of the EIC membership and its ability to address a number of critical issues."

The EIC was founded three years ago to champion the cause of making certain agencies will have better tools for communications during emergencies. Working with the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS), a standards-setting group, the EIC is engaged in a continuing program to advance the sharing of information. The EIC has signed a formal agreement with the Department of Homeland Security (DHC) to develop open standards for emergency communications.

The group has testified before Congress, advocating greater use of open standards and interoperability for emergency communications, primarily over data networks.

PolarLake, with headquarters in Dublin and offices in London, New York and Tokyo, provides customers such as emergency management agencies, financial institutions and other corporate clients, with systems integration based on open standards-based tools such as the Common Alerting Protocol (CAP).

"We are delighted to be part of the Emergency Interoperability Consortium (EIC) and we look forward to demonstrating the significant value of the PolarLake offering to the EIC members and their network," commented Kevin Lynch, Vice President, Global Sales at PolarLake. "The EIC creates a national approach for data interoperability through an industry-government consortium, and it will provide many new and exciting opportunities for PolarLake as we continue to grow and develop in the US Government space."
