John Randles
CEO & Board of Directors, PolarLake
John joined PolarLake from Siebel Systems, where he was CTO Banking and responsible for the Retail Banking business across the Americas and EMEA. Prior to joining Siebel, John was CTO of Eontec, a world leader in component-based banking systems, which was acquired by Siebel Systems in 2004. John also led Eontec’s business in North America and had previously led Product Development, Strategy, Product Marketing and Pre-Sales globally.
John graduated from the University of Limerick with a degree in computer engineering.
Pat Brazel
Chairman, PolarLake
Patrick Brazel has over 25 years of experience working in the international financial software industry. He has been instrumental in the strategic growth and success of a number of well-known financial technology organizations. Pat is also Chairman of GoldTier and was previously the CEO of Eontec, the market leader in multi-channel retail banking solutions. Mr. Brazel was responsible for Eontec’s rapid growth and success, and ultimately its acquisition by Siebel Systems in 2004. He was a founder and chairman of Sentry Financial Systems, the pre-eminent provider of collateral management software, prior to its acquisition in 2002 by Algorithmics Inc.
Well known for his leadership as president of SunGard Capital Markets, Mr. Brazel led that company to become the dominant player in the derivatives trading and risk management systems market. He holds a Masters degree from Trinity College, Dublin and is a trustee of the Dublin City University Educational Trust.
Warren Buckley B.Sc.
Chief Technology Officer, PolarLake. Board of Directors, PolarLake
Warren is a co-founder of Xiam and PolarLake and was CTO of Xiam from its foundation in 1998 until the formation of PolarLake as a separate business in 2002. Warren was previously the Technical/Systems Architect for Bank of Ireland Group Treasury. Reporting directly to the IT Director, he was responsible for the design of technical and systems infrastructure.
Warren graduated with a B.Sc. in Computer Systems from the University of Limerick in 1993.
Kevin Dillon
Partner, Atlantic Bridge Ventures. Board of Directors, PolarLake
Kevin has 18 years operating experience in the technology sector, including a total of 13 years operational experience in Paris, London and Dublin, five years in Silicon Valley, and a total of 13 years as an executive in the software industry. Kevin served as Vice President, Microsoft EMEA and helped grow the regional business from $500 million in 1991 to $9.5 billion in 2004. At Microsoft, Kevin was a member of Microsoft EMEAs' senior management team responsible for various roles in Finance, Operations and Sales & Marketing.
Kevin is a frequent industry speaker and was ICT Ireland Businessman of the Year in 2001 and elected a fellow of the Irish Management Institute in 2000. He holds various degrees in Business, Finance, Taxation & Law. Kevin is on the board of GeoVector Corporation.
Maurice Roche
General Partner, Delta Partners. Board of Directors, PolarLake
Maurice joined Delta Partners in 1995 as an Associate and became a General Partner in 1997. He serves on a number of Boards including Tango Telecom, textHELP, Xiam, Altamedius and Tsunami Photonics. Since 1988, Maurice has been involved in corporate finance and equity investing. Before joining Delta, he was an Associate with Enterprise Equity, a venture capital fund focusing on development capital projects, where he led a number of investments. Prior to Enterprise Equity, he was a Manager in the Corporate Finance division of Simpson Xavier where he specialized in equity fundraising for development capital and management buyout opportunities.
A graduate of University of Limerick in Business Studies, he holds a postgraduate degree from University College Dublin and is qualified as a Chartered Accountant.
Nikolaus von Huetz
Investment Partner, Add Partners. Board of Directors, PolarLake
Niko von Huetz joined Add Partners in 2003, with US and European experience of more than 12 years in data communications services, enterprise software and management consulting. Most recently, Niko held the post of Managing Partner at ICG & Partners, a technology-related advisory service. Prior to that he was Vice President of Marketing & Business Development at Kokua Communications, a pan-European fixed-wireless broadband service provider, and European Marketing Director at Trilogy Software, a leading CRM vendor based in Austin, Texas. Prior to that he was a Manager at Booz.Allen & Hamilton, in the Engineering & Manufacturing Practice based in Munich.
Niko is a German citizen. He earned an MBA from INSEAD and an MS in Manufacturing Systems Engineering, with emphasis on embedded microprocessor product design, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering, both from Stanford University. Niko also serves on the Board of Directors of Apertio and is an observer on the Board of Directors of SurfKitchen and Instranet.
